2006-01-25 - 4:27 p.m. My oldest son lost his first molar this week. It was on a day when he was home sick and his dad was staying home with him. When he was getting ready for bed, he pulled out his tooth box and promptly put it under his pillow. The next morning I'm running around like crazy because we're already running late and he says "Mom, the Tooth Fairy didn't come last night." Oh, man, did I have a butt-pucker moment. After he went to bed, I COMPLETELY forgot about his tooth. Talk about making a parent feel like crap. I SUCK!!! So I quickly tried to come up with an excuse as to why the Tooth Fairy may have simply flown over our house that night. 1) Sometimes the Tooth Fairy gets really busy and she can't make it to every house. 2) Sometimes the Tooth Fairy doesn't get the word of a lost tooth right away, especially when it's a molar. 3) Our Tooth Fairy just SUCKS because she can't remember to get the freakin' gold dollar coins out of hiding and slip them under the pillow while not waking up the child. Believe me, the next night when the boy went to bed, I immediately got that gold dollar coin and put it in my hand. I carried it around for more than an hour so I would remember to put it under the pillow. Trust me, I'll not make that mistake again....hopefully!
